Yes you heard me correctly, me, The Golden Rule VIRTUAL Assistant, is tell you that it does NOT all have to be done virtually.

What?!?

clear the frantic

Let me explain…here is a problem I’ve seen many Superstars struggle with (myself included) that feeling of there must be an app, tool, program, online something or another to help manage a part or system in your business.  Chances are that there is something right now in your business that is stressing you out, now raise your hand if you’ve searched for an app or online tool to help you manage that stress?  I’m raising my hand, after all it’s my business to be “virtual” and use the tools available online, right?  Well yes but there is a fine line, and many of my clients have come to this conclusion…

It Doesn’t ALL have to be Virtual

What’s more important is having a system that works for YOU.  A system that you can consistently follow.  If you find it easier to sit with your stack of order forms to call guests at an event or party, then do that.  If you are good at putting together a list of leads into a notebook and using different color pens to track their progress, then do that.  If you would rather use a binder to track your hostess coaching, then do that.  The important thing is to DO it, and keep doing it!

I’ve seen it time and time again, when a Superstar hears about a great new “tool” to manage a part of their business and they think “that must be better, easier, more wonderful than what I’m doing” even if what they are doing is working just fine.  And so in their excitement they get the new program spend hours setting it up, fumble through trying to use it, and guess what happens…the system that they once had, that worked fine, has now become broken and is no longer working or happening.

Be careful with what I’m saying Superstars, virtual systems, tools and apps are GREAT!  I run my business and life by them, BUT I also have a paper planner that sits by my desk, and each client has their own paper folder, I take handwritten notes and keep them.  I’ve tried virtual tools for these areas, but you know what, in those areas of my business that works, for me.  Other people wouldn’t know what to do with a paper planner, and manage their notes online, and that works for them.

Find your own sweet spot for virtual and non-virtual ways to run your business.   In some cases you may find a combination works, (i.e., I use Google Calendar to send me an alert of my appointments/events) or you may also discover it’s time to make a change for the better (i.e., get those emails into a spreadsheet, or email marketing services, or your back office, just somewhere you can actually use them!)

Just remember, if you are effectively taking consistent ACTION with a system you currently have then leave it be, focus on making changes in the areas that are not working and you are struggling with taking action with….those are the areas in need of change, not what is already working.  It often feels like the areas that are working are easier to switch to an online system, and sometimes that is true, but let’s get the areas of our business that are not working into a system that works instead of changing what already does.
