“Do to others whatever you would have them do to you” Matthew 7:12
As a child I can remember being taught how important it was to treat others the way you wanted to be treated. Be fair and kind, as you would want your friends to be to you. As a Mom today it’s still a valuable lesson I teach to my children. Maybe you can relate “Jack how would you feel if Jill just cut in front of you in line for the swing? You wouldn’t like that very much would you?”
For me, the beauty of the Golden Rule is the simplicity of it…it’s so pure to want to treat others no different than you yourself want to be treated.
When I decided to be a Mary Kay beauty consultant, I remember how impressed I was to learn that the Golden Rule was a founding principal that Mary Kay Ash herself insisted be the only way consultants grow their business. How smart of her to realize that when we all work together and treat each other with respect and kindness that we all can benefit.
I may no longer sell Mary Kay, but many of the ideals taught at the company left a lasting impression on how wonderful the Direct Selling industry really is. As my journey lead me to become a Virtual Assistant (VA) I knew only one name would speak to my business mission…The Golden Rule!
So what does The Golden Rule VA mean…?
As you grow your Direct Sales business by the Golden Rule, it is my mission to provide you with support while treating your business as if it were my very own with respect, creativity and professionalism…it’s my rule!
Thanks, Melissa….
I think that this post speaks to your sensitivity to the level of trust business owners must place in you, your skills and integrity. Establishing an effective partnership requires a leap of faith.
I also find it intriguing that The Golden Rule figures so prominently in the history of the direct selling industry. If you want to go way back google “the golden rule in business.”
Thank you so much Andrea!
What a great explanation! Love that your inspiration for your business comes from your heart, but also perfectly meshes with your business.
I agree that you have put your finger on one of the key attributes that business owners are looking for when they hire an assistant. It’s hard for entrepreneurs to let go of any control over their business sometimes. They would all be so lucky to find you!
